Why I Only Use American-Made Cotton Yarn

When I first learned to crochet, I didn’t think much about the yarn I used. I picked whatever looked soft and colorful, never considering where it came from or how it was made. But as I grew more intentional about my craft, I realized that the materials I choose are just as important as the stitches themselves.
That’s when I made the switch to 100% American-made cotton yarn — and I’ve never looked back.

Quality You Can Feel

American-grown cotton has a softness and strength that makes a real difference — especially for pieces that are meant to be held, worn, or gifted. It holds its shape beautifully, wears well over time, and has a natural feel that synthetic blends just can’t match. When I create plush toys or baby gifts, I want them to feel right — not just cute, but comforting and lasting.

Supporting Sustainable Practices

Many American cotton farms now follow sustainable growing practices, including reduced water use and lower-impact harvesting. Choosing domestic yarn helps reduce the carbon footprint of my materials — fewer freight miles, fewer plastic wraps, fewer unknowns. It feels good to create something with heart and know the supply chain behind it matches my values.

Supporting Local & Small-Batch Mills

By using U.S.-made yarn, I’m not just choosing a material — I’m supporting a community. Some of the yarn I buy comes from small mills in North Carolina and Texas, run by families who’ve worked with fiber for generations. That connection matters. It brings a human touch to every skein, just like my crochet brings a human touch to every piece.

So when you hold one of my plush toys or wrap up in one of my blankets, you’re not just feeling soft cotton. You’re feeling craftsmanship, care, and a deeper connection — from field to fiber to finished stitch.
